The Presidency announcement that its managing director, Phindile Baleni, received death threats this week from unknown persons. The threat was made via a letter in Baleni’s mailbox. He was accompanied by a bullet.

The presidency said state security agencies have been notified and the matter is being investigated, in a statement released Saturday, June 4.

An early morning fire engulfed an informal campsite in Diep River, Cape Town, on Saturday. Forty firefighters from metro stations were dispatched to the scene.

Alderman JP Smith, Cape Town’s MayCo member for safety and security, said the town’s fire and rescue service received a call about a fire at the informal settlement of Gatjie around 7 26 p.m. Saturday.

The three siblings who died after eating poisoned rat meat would be laid to rest on Saturday.

The two pupils of Kaalfontein Primary School and their one-year-old sister sadly died after consuming poisoned meat intended for rats.

Bullet in the mailbox: Death threats made against the director general of the presidency

The Presidency announcement that its managing director, Phindile Baleni, received death threats this week from unknown persons. The threat was made via a letter in Baleni’s mailbox. He was accompanied by a bullet.

The presidency said state security agencies have been notified and the matter is being investigated, in a statement released Saturday, June 4.

“Several days ago, Ms. Baleni received threats from an unknown person or persons who appear to want to affect the presidency’s handling of the findings of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into allegations of state capture, corruption and fraud in the public sector, including state bodies.”

Three siblings who died of rat poisoning will be buried

The three siblings who died after eating poisoned rat meat would be laid to rest on Saturday.

The two pupils of Kaalfontein Primary School and their one-year-old sister sadly died after consuming poisoned meat intended for rats.

While the two children were at school, their grandmother sprinkled poison on some meat and placed it in a container above the refrigerator. The intention was to use the poisoned meat later to trap rats. The grandmother then left for the church.

Two dead and 64 displaced after fire ripped through ‘The Gatjie’ in Cape Town

An early morning fire engulfed an informal campsite in Diep River, Cape Town, on Saturday. Forty firefighters from metro stations were dispatched to the scene.

Alderman JP Smith, Cape Town’s MayCo member for safety and security, said the town’s fire and rescue service received a call about a fire at the informal settlement of Gatjie around 7 26 p.m. Saturday.

About 40 firefighters from Constantia, Wynberg, Lakeside, Ottery, Mitchells Plain and Roeland Street were dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze with three water sprays and one fog spray.

Security guards injured in cash in transit robbery in Benoni

Three security guards were injured following a burglary of cash in transit on Putfontein Road in Benoni on Friday afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived at 2:20 p.m. to find several security forces already present.

According to ER24, a light motor vehicle was found well lit in the middle of the road while a crashed cash transport vehicle was on the side of the road.

Parkwood mob attack: Nine suspects arrested in email driver murder

Cape Town Police have arrested other suspects in connection with the brutal murder of 31-year-old Abongile Mafalala, who was stoned, assaulted and set on fire in Parkwood, Cape Town, on Tuesday in a mob attack which officials say authorities, was triggered by fake news on social media. .

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesman, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, said The South African that nine suspects were arrested on the night of Friday, June 3.

The suspects face charges of murder and robbery with a weapon other than a firearm. The nine are scheduled to appear in Wynberg Magistrates Court on Monday, June 6.
