Myrtle Beach Safari owner, ‘Tiger King’ star, arrested by FBI in Horry Co., official says

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WPDE) – Myrtle Beach Safari owner Bhagavan “Doc” Antle was arrested by the FBI on Friday, according to an agency spokesperson.

The FBI said it could not provide any further details about the arrest until after a hearing.

Sources close to the investigation told ABC15 the charges relate to money laundering and there will be a hearing on Monday.

He is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to their online records, but no charges are listed.

Antle, who is best known for his appearance in the Netflix series, ‘Tiger King’, faces a slew of charges announced in October 2020 after a wildlife trafficking investigation.

He faces one count of wildlife trafficking, one count of conspiracy to traffic wildlife and 13 misdemeanor charges, which include the nine counts of animal cruelty stemming from of a Virginia Attorney General’s investigation that found Antle trafficked in lion cubs. between Virginia and South Carolina with the owner of the now defunct Wilson’s Wild Animal Park.
