QBA investigates medical tourism investment opportunities in Switzerland

The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) organized a business lunch to commemorate the visit of a delegation of Swiss medical services and medical tourism companies led by HE Edgar Doerig, Swiss Ambassador to Qatar.

At the start of the meeting, QBA board member Al Kaabi welcomed the Swiss delegation and also talked about the deep bilateral relations between the two nations.

Despite Switzerland being a popular tourist destination for Gulf residents and Qataris, Al Kaabi said Qatar is gearing up to host a spectacular World Cup as the country welcomes Swiss fans and tourists.

The qualification of the Swiss national team for the FIFA World Cup 2022, according to the ambassador, will increase the interest of Swiss tourists to visit Qatar.

During the event, Al Fardan (QBA Board Member) also said that in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the Qatari Businessmen Association are interested in increasingly to health technologies and the health sector; and that relations with Switzerland are improving in many sectors, including tourism, in particular medical care, opening the door to even closer ties between the private sectors of the two countries.

Doerig also said that the Qatari market has become increasingly important for Switzerland and that Qatar is the 3rd largest market in the Middle East and North Africa for Switzerland. He also said the number of Swiss tourists visiting Qatar was increasing, pointing to the region’s significant investment opportunities and the World Cup sending positive signals.
